Parking at Papa John's stadium is $5 before 8:00 a.m. and $10 after 8:00. Park at Papa John’s Stadium parking lot off of Floyd St. There will be a shuttle running from that lot to Churchill Downs but it costs $10 each way. Typically, we walk to Churchill Downs from there.
Directions to the Parking Lot:
From I-65 or I-64 take the Watterson Expressway west-bound. Take the Southern Parkway/ 3rd St. exit (Exit 10). At the bottom of the ramp turn right onto 3rd St. At the 3rd St/Southern Pkwy intersection, veer to the right, staying on 3rd St. At the 3rd St/Central intersection, turn right onto Central. Follow Central over the overpass (Kroger will be on your right and Papa John’s Stadium will be on your left) to the intersection with Floyd. Turn right on Floyd and then right into the parking lot. Pay the parking lot attendant $5 and then drive over to Light Post 6 in Lot B. A G.O. Staff member will be waiting to meet you to give you your t-shirt, $10 per diem for lunch, credentials to access Churchill Downs free of charge, map and sales location assignment. After receiving your shirt and credentials feel free to park as close as you can get to Central St. in Lot A.
This is our rendevous point. From here you will go to Churchill Downs and find your location.
Directions from Light Post 6 in Lot B to the Downs:
Walk across the lot to the steps you will see on the right hand side of the overpass which is actually Central. Go up the steps and turn left and go back the way you came by car. You will stay on Central all of the way back to Churchill Downs. Follow the brick wall all the way down to the main entrance of Churchill Downs. Enter through Gate 1 pictured below.
Go through the Security check. From here you may follow your map to your assigned location.
